Vyayam (Exercise)

The activities by which body gets tired is known as vyayam.

Advantages of vyayam –
  1. Lightness of body
  2. Energises to work
  3. Improves digestion
  4. Burns fats
  5. Muscles becomes tones and well divided.

Vatapittarogi , Balak (children), vruddha (old age), Ajeerna (indigestion) rogi should not do vyayam.

Balvaan (strong person), person consuming snigdha bhojan (oily food) should perform ardha shakti vyayam(half the capacity of doing exercise) in sheet rutu (cold season) and vasant rutu.

In other seasons (Grishma, Varsha and sharad) perform little vyayam.

After vyayam, whole body should be massaged gently.

  1. Trusha (Thirst)
  2. Kshayrog (consumption)
  3. Pratamak shwas (Type of dyspnoea)
  4. Shram (Exertion)
  5. Klam (mental exhaustion)
  6. Kasa (cough)
  7. Jwar (fever)
  8. Chardi (vomiting)

Excess exercise, jagran (staying up late at night) , excessive sex, excessive laughing and excess of talking ruins a person in a similar manner how lion gets ruined while dragging an elephant.
